Maiman LEED Contributions
The Maiman Company is a progressive leader in the wood door industry, actively pursuing innovative materials and manufacturing processes which create better and more environmentally sound products and services.
Following are environmentally friendly attributes of The Maiman Company product line:
Recycled Content
Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) has certified that Thermal Fused Flush Doors meet all of the necessary qualifications to be certified to contain "a minimum of 85% Recycled and Reclaimed wood content, with at least 25% reclaimed content, and the balance (60%) Pre-Consumer Recycled content."
SCS has also certified The Maiman Compnany's Stile & Rail Doors:
Raised Panel Painted Doors (of 30" width or greater) as "a minimum of 60% Recycled and Reclaimed wood content, with at least 13% Reclaimed Content and the balance (47%) Pre-Consumer recycled content."
Raised Panel Stained Doors (of 30" width or greater) as "a minimum of 70% Recycled and Reclaimed wood content, with at least 13% Reclaimed Content and the balance (57%) Pre-Consumer recycled content."
Flat Panel Doors (stained or painted, of 30" width or greater) "a minimum 67% Recycled and Reclaimed wood content, with at least 15% Reclaimed Content and the balance (52%) Pre-Consumer recycled content."
FSC - COC Certification
The Maiman Company is proud to announce that they have been certified by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) for Chain-of-Custody by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Maiman’s FSC certification number is SCS-COC-001865. This designation signifies that they meet very strict guidelines regarding the origins of much of the wood they use, and that many of the Stile and Rail, as well as the Thermal Fused flush doors they manufacture, are made from wood harvested from certified, responsibly managed forests. See the table on page 88 of Maiman's technical binder for a detailed account of which Maiman products are currently available with this certification.
No Added Urea Formaldehyde (NAUF)
In 2008, Maiman also became a supplier of products containing No Added Urea Formaldehyde. Urea Formaldehyde was commonly used in adhesives and composite panel products, but due to concerns about the potentially objectionable fumes it emits during curing, its use has been heavily discouraged by environmentalists. Heeding this call, Maiman now offers all of its Stile and Rail line, as well as much of its Thermal Fused flush line, as NAUF products. See the table on page 88 of our technical binder for a more detailed account of NAUF availability from Maiman.

Architectural Woodwoork Institute’s (AWI’s) Quality Certification Program
